I started blogging many moons ago, before it was popular. I have blogged on many different topics from parenting to small business, to writing and book reviews, and all sorts of other things. It has been some time since I had a space to blog just for the joy of it.
So much advice is around niching and picking a single topic… and this took a lot of the fun out of it for me as I had to think ‘does this fit the theme of this blog?’
With that in mind, this blog is going to be eclectic. It will cover whatever topics are on my mind. It could be books, business, writing, my latest cup of chai tea, or anything else I think of. I will also be consistently inconsistent, so please don’t expect a post a day!

A little about me.
My name is Melissa Gijsbers. Not many people know how to spell my surname, they just know there is a J in there somewhere. At one point, my mum had a page with a collection of different spellings. That is where the name of this blog came from.
Here are a few random facts about me:
- I am an author and booklover
- I am in my mid 40s
- I live in Gippsland in Victoria, Australia
- My favourite drink is chai tea
- I have two adult children
- I started the first mums in business network in Australia
- In 2022, I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD
- I work with young writers age 8-18 to inspire them with creative writing
- I cannot stick to a niche with my own writing
- My favourite animal is a wombat
